Cooperative Composting

As part of our Eco Action III program, A Fork in the Road, grade 6 volunteers, Jessie Kapelari and Billy deSteiger have been picking up compost from Main Street businesses every Thursday afterschool.  The Bulkley Valley Credit Union, Office of the Wetsuweten and BC Designworks are just a few of the downtown businesses participating in the local initiative.  The cooperative composting program began on September 13 and since then the team has saved 89.5 lbs of coffee grounds and office compost from hitting the landfill.  Using their new Grocery Getter bike carts, they’ve also been able to pickup the odd recyclable along the way.  Downtown businesses wishing to get in on the composting action can call Tricia or Nikki at One Sky to arrange for weekly pickup.
