Staff

This page is for and about One Sky staff.  Working for One Sky is a trip, a voyage, a journey and most definitely a commitment. We attract dedicated staff, who see this work as an extension of what they would likely be doing anyway. We are social change agents and the line between our personal and professional lives can become blurred. That is why we go out of our way to make One Sky a great place to be.  Your daybook is an expression of how you are spending your time on the planet…so we try to make it worthwhile and enjoy the journey. We work hard, we play hard but most of all we continually rethink what we are doing and dream big.

“The culture of One Sky is described by those involved with the organization as “dynamic, humanistic, growing, learning, bold, reckless, challenging, innovative, supportive, friendly, open, youth-driven”
Drishti - Centre for Integral Action

The management of One Sky staff is guided by a formal manual of policies and an informal culture of support and personal development. When a person works for One Sky they work in service to the One Sky community including the membership, the volunteers, other staff and board members.  It is rewarding yet hard work.

Historic Letters from 2000

Mike Simpson, Executive Director

Well, here I am in Sierra Leone, West Africa.  My goal to research the war affected child for a documentary and to establish contact with Friends of the Earth – Sierra Leone.  The road leading me here partly fate, partly political and partly personal.

2nd letter, June 2000

Mike Simpson, Executive Director

Yesterday, Sunday, was the Day of the African Child.  Actually it was Friday but since the one kid broke a bottle over the other kids head they postponed things until Sunday.  Everyone was dressed in “fine clothes” and there was a big dance in the courtyard.
