World Tours
Come on a World Tour
One Sky hosts world tours to various locations. If you have limited time and want to spend your vacation or school break learning about the challenges our planet faces, these tours are an ideal opportunity to explore the world of a non-governmental organization under the guidance of an experienced project coordinator. Each tour will give in-depth analysis of the country context, explore the theoretical approach of a given One Sky project and offer unique opportunities to meet locals face to face and understand their personal stories. Rather than going to a beach you might find yourself visiting a refugee camp, talking with village elders or venturing into the rainforest. Of course, you might end up on a beach anyway but this is no exotic holiday. Our World Tours are an excellent way to investigate for yourself what One Sky is all about and to explore your own perspectives on sustainable living.
In 2007 One Sky hosted a world tour to Sierra Leone.
Current World Tours
When: March 13th to 23rd, 2009
Where: Freetown, Koidu, and the Banana Island Guesthouse, Sierra Leone
Why: Because an absence of conflict doesn’t guarantee human security. In spite of its mineral wealth, Sierra Leone ranks last on the UN Human Development Index. Join One Sky staff for a hands-on experience of our land reclamation, sustainable agriculture and advocacy work in this former conflict zone.
